On Friday, October 2, 2026, we opened the exhibition On the Other Side by artist Natalie Berezine—winner of the Grand Prize at the 57th International Meeting of Naïve Artists Trebnje —at the Gallery of Naïve Artists Trebnje.
The exhibition takes visitors into the artistic world of Natalie Berezine, where illustration and painting, reality and imagination intertwine. Her images are populated by dreamlike landscapes, moving houses, floating fish, and other unusual creatures, as well as scenes that conceal multilayered meanings. As the artist says: “Every painting is like an island of imagination, a place where dreams, memories, and the tender secrets of the night meet.” Her work is characterized by an interweaving of personal experiences, memories, and imaginary worlds. Another important theme in her work is the question of home—how to find one’s place in a new environment and create a sense of warmth and security.
At the opening, Sabina Tori Selan, director of the Trebnje Center for Education and Culture; Damjana Šalehar, the exhibition’s curator; and artist Natalia Berezina addressed the audience, while Luka Bregar served as the emcee. Duo Limonium provided musical entertainment for the festive evening, and the exhibition was officially opened by Tomaž Ramovš, mayor of the Municipality of Šentrupert.
The exhibition is accompanied by a program of creative workshops led by the artist. The first workshop will be for adults and will take place at the gallery in November, followed by a family creative workshop in January.
The exhibition On the Other Side is on view at the Trebnje Gallery of Self-Taught Artists through February 13, 2027.
You are cordially invited!
