GLST Virtual Guide

Learn about the permanent exhibition and naive art through the GLST Virtual Guide. The gallery recently got a new employee. Samo Rastnik, a naive art enthusiast and gallery guardian, will warmly welcome you through your mobile phones and guide you through the history of the International Meeting of Naive Artists and the collection. He will also ask you some riddles that will require you to carefully observe the paintings in the exhibition.

The virtual guide was created as part of the project Virtual Gallery of naïve artists Trebnje: cultural heritage in augmented reality. As part of the project, we also held the Naive Art in a Digital Environment workshops in January. First, we hung out at the digital photography workshop, where under the mentorship of photographer Boštjan Puclje, we learned how to make the most of our mobile phone for quality photography. We continued with a sculpting workshop led by Nina Mrđenović, where the participants looked for inspiration in sculptural works from our collection.  At last, we organized a 3D printing workshop led by Jan Ravbar. At the workshops, we learned what can be made with a 3D printer, how to operate it, and created a plan for our own product. 3D printing was also used to create souvenirs from the Gallery of naïve artists Trebnje, which draw inspiration from the artistic energy that gathers every summer in Trebnje during the International Artist Meeting. We created a book index in the shape of a brush, a phone stand shaped like a painting stand and a creative tool shaped like a painting palette.

Our goal was to provide workshop participants with practical knowledge that they can also use outside the gallery walls. The result of the meetings are wonderful products. With them, we created a traveling photography-sculpture exhibition Building Blocks of a Whole that not only connects intergenerational creators, but also interweaves modern technical and technological approaches and art. The exhibition visited the Cultural Congress Center in Dolenjske Toplice, Žužemberk Primary School, the library in Ivančna Gorica and also our gallery.
