Slovenian Cultural Holiday, celebrated on 8 February, is a wonderful opportunity to visit the Gallery of Naïve Artists Trebnje.
On this day, you will be able to visit free of charge the permanent exhibition, the temporary exhibition Everyday Life and Celebration, and the thematic exhibition featuring works by artist Judita Rajnar Prosen. At the intergenerational workshop, we will step into a magical world of imagination together with the artist, and in the evening we will add a musical touch to the day. As day turns into night, we will listen to the students of the Trebnje Music School at the Evening of Slovenian Song. Admission is free!
PROGRAMME OF THE CULTURAL DAY:
9:00–11:00 – Intergenerational workshop Heart on the Loose with Judita Rajnar Prosen
Artist Judita often takes her heart on a journey. She steps out of everyday life into a magical world of imagination. Upon returning, she expresses herself through creation—picking up a pencil, a paintbrush, or knitting needles. With these tools she creates a wide range of works, both large and small in scale; one of the more extensive pieces, interwoven with wire and other materials and surrounded by a crocheted structure, is titled Playfulness and will also be on view at the exhibition. Most often, however, she continues her creative path on paper, where her invented and mysterious characters appear—figures she continually develops and brings to life through drawing.
Join us for an intergenerational workshop where, together with the artist, we will dance, create, and tell stories. Young, old, and everyone in between are warmly invited! Registration is required at galerija@ciktrebnje.si.
9:00 AM–5:00 PM – Self-guided tour of the permanent exhibition Naïve Art
You can also explore the exhibition of self-taught artists from around the world with the virtual guide Samo Rastnik.
9:00 AM–5:00 PM – Self-guided tour of the temporary exhibition
EVERYDAY LIFE AND CELEBRATION: Ethnographic Heritage in the Works of Naïve Artists
Scenes from everyday life are a characteristic thematic focus of naïve artists. The exhibited works present the daily lives of rural people and craftspeople—their everyday tasks, customs, and celebrations. The exhibition was created in professional cooperation with the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum.
9:00 AM–5:00 PM – Self-guided tour of the thematic exhibition by Judita Rajnar Prosen: HEART ON THE LOOSE
The artist presents a selection of artworks created over the past three years. The exhibition encompasses a variety of media—from colored drawings and acrylic paintings to “crochet pieces.” The works reflect the artist’s rich imaginative world and personal experiences, captured in her distinctive visual language.
5:00 PM – Evening of Slovenian Song; performance by the Vocal Department of the Trebnje Music School
Students of the vocal department will perform, joined by guest performers.
